YWCA Union County is the lead agency providing coordination, management of operations, and administration of the contract for the Union County FJC. YWCA Union County also serves as the lead domestic violence agency for Union County, providing comprehensive services including emergency shelter, supportive/transitional housing, court advocacy, counseling, case management, crisis response team coordination, PALS program for children, domestic violence liaison with DCP&P, workforce development, and community/professional education.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement efforts to the citizens of Union County and is responsible for providing safety and security for employees and visitors of the Union County Courthouse complex and other Union County locations. In addition to other services, the Sheriff’s Office has a dedicated Family Violence Unit, managing the processing and maintenance of records of arrested persons and assisting local law enforcement agencies in the identification of suspects in criminal investigations. The Sheriff’s Office’s Legal Process Unit performs the service of summonses and complaints, notices of motions, orders to show cause, writs of attachments and execution, wage garnishments and special garnishments.
The mission of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office is to investigate and prosecute major crimes occurring within Union County; to proactively coordinate community outreach initiatives that improve quality of life for the County’s citizens; and to work cooperatively with each of the County’s various law enforcement agencies to protect the public’s fundamental rights to safety, security, and liberty. The Union County Prosecutor’s Office, as the chief law enforcement agency in Union County, provides leadership and supervision over the chiefs of police and municipal prosecutors with a view to ensure the effective, efficient and uniform enforcement and prosecution, of the criminal laws and the administration of criminal justice throughout Union County.
The mission of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office of Victim/Witness Advocacy is to support victims and witnesses of crimes in Union County through information, advocacy, and community outreach in order to help make their participation in the criminal justice system less difficult and burdensome. The goal of victim witness advocates is to empower survivors of crime and the families of crime victims through supportive efforts to ensure that they are treated with dignity, compassion and respect in the aftermath of a crime.
Partners for Women and Justice is a public interest law firm established in 2002 to provide free legal assistance to victims and survivors of domestic violence and to help them build safe and secure futures for themselves and their children. Since its founding, Partners has provided legal assistance to thousands of victims, focusing on restraining orders, safe custody and visitation arrangements, and fair awards of child support and spousal support.
Central Jersey Legal Services is the sole provider of comprehensive civil legal services to low-income people in central New Jersey. CJLS has substantial experience and expertise in providing civil legal assistance to low-income people, including victims and survivors of domestic violence.
PROCEED’s mission is to provide and connect people to educational, health and human services, and enhance the capacity of other organizations to offer quality programs and services to their communities. PROCEED’s services include health, housing and economic development, education, counseling, advocacy, capacity building and training.
